I just received this email from Elizabeth Brand who I have been corresponding with on rescue transportations. John Olexa got me involved with these groups and they are a great bunch of folks. Anyway this is sad for this senior pug gal. If anyone can help please contact them. She is scheduled to be euthanized if no one will take her in.
Hi everyone. There is a pug mix senior female that will die if not adopted today. Her owner died and she was dumped. There's also a dachshund mix female that's in danger and available now as well. There both scared and don't deserve to be gassed. See their pictures at http://www.savingspaldingpets.blogspot.com/ or see attached pics. The Spalding County Animal Shelter in Griffin, GA can be reached at 770-467-4772. Please go to their website at www.spaldingcountyanimalshelter.com for their adoption contract. You can fax it in and save their lives. I may even be able to hold one of these dogs for a reputable rescue IF they are dog friendly. Just let me know. Thanks, Elizabeth
Dachshund Mix Description: This tiny little girl appears to be a Dachshund MIX about 9 months old. She is less than 10 lbs. And she is such a doll. She was very sweet with my kids and she just wanted to be petted and held in my arms. She will be available Jan. 17 and her last day is listed as Jan. 18. Please call the shelter at 770-467-4772.
Pug Mix Description: This is one of the saddest stories...This senior girl was surrendered to the shelter when her elderly owner passed away. I had not posted about her yet because every day that I visited the shelter, she was curled up in a ball and wouldn't look up at me or even acknowledge me. I discussed her with the shelter manager, and he said he did not think she had a very good temperament and so we decided not to post her. But today when I went in to the shelter, this little lady was standing at the front of her cage, waggin g her tail! I was shocked. I thought she may have been willing herself to die these last few days. But I guess she decided to give life another try. I showed her to the shelter manager, and he was as surprised as I was. She was scheduled to be PTS tomorrow morning (Jan.18), but I begged, and he promised to give her 1 more day. This means she can still be saved! Please don't let my misjudgement of her cost this little dog her life! She will be available NOW and will be out of time at 8:00 a.m. Jan.20. Please call the shelter at 770-467-4772.
