First of all most animals if trained properly will become loving and loyal pets. When you go to adopt you need to figure out first what type of dog or cat suites your lifestyle and temperment. If your a couch potatoe you don't need a very high energy dog. All animals as people have problems depends on each situation the severity. As their are good breeders out their always stay away from Puppy Mills. Puppy Mills are places where dogs are just forced to breed and breed. With no concern for the outcome. By adopting you are literally saving a life. I know of very few people who have gone to a shelter and have been able to leave without adopting. No pet deserves to be left in a cage. If when you adopt you take your new pet and yourself to a training class weather it be private of group it will be such a great begining for you and your new pet. If you are looking for a new pet and can not find them try petfinder.com you can find pets all over the country of all diffrent breeds. So many reasons why people give up pets. Many because of moving and unable to thke them with them. SO dont think every pet in a shelter is a bad pet because they are not. Ask alot of questions to the shelter how they got the pet ect.. If you have kids see how the pet response with the pet. Their is nothing more rewarding then knowing you helped save a life by adopting. SO before you purchase a pet please just think about adopting. SO many pets are put to sleep each year because they have no homes and the shelters are to full. Wish you all the best and hope everyone adopts a pet today. Pitter Patter Pawz

Posted - 03/05/2006 : 21:52:47 Adopting is the way to go. Way to many unwanted pets out in those shelters. Everyone wants a puppy then when it gets older they dump them. If you are going to buy a pet got to a reputable breeder. No back yard puppy mills or backyard breeders who don't know what they are doing. Schnooky
